Record-Breaking Amount Raised for Beech Brook’s 5K Race & Family Fun Run
Over 160 participants of all ages participated in Beech Brook’s 12thAnnual 5K Race & Family Fun Run on Sunday, October 23 to raise over $27,000 -- a record-breaking amount for the 12th year of this event. Every dollar raised supports Beech Brook’s mission of serving our community and helping children and families thrive.
In addition, Beech Brook Foster Care families were honored because of the support and care they provide children in our community. In Ohio, there are about 15,000 children in foster care and only 7,200 foster homes. In the past year, 60 children have lived with Beech Brook Foster Care Families and 23 of these children were new placements. One child who was formerly in Foster Care, and who has since been adopted by her Foster Care Family, helped “ring the bell” to begin the race and walk at 9 a.m.
Special thanks to guests from Ghostbusters Cleveland, the 501st Garrison, Burning River Squad Star Wars Characters, and the Pepper Pike Fire Department.
