Beech Brook, a behavioral health agency based in Pepper Pike, has been designated as one of Northeast Ohio’s Top Workplaces for 2020. The yearly honors, presented by The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com, are based on feedback from an organization’s employees.

“We are so thrilled and honored to receive this designation,” said Tom Royer, Beech Brook president/CEO. “It’s especially gratifying because the award is based solely on feedback from our staff about their work. Nothing could make me happier than knowing that our staff members feel supported, engaged and proud of their workplace and the work they do.”

The winners were featured in the Sunday, June 28, edition of The Plain Dealer.

According to the Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces website, the awards “seek to recognize employers who are doing things right. It’s a chance to honor those who create an environment and culture where workers feel respected and rewarded, and where those same workers feel as if they can enrich their skills while contributing to a mission they truly believe in.”

Royer said the surveys took place early this year, before the COVID-19 epidemic led to shelter-at-home requirements and the need to work remotely.

“With the support of our Board of Directors, we chose to continue paying our staff during this time because we truly care about them and their families,” Royer said. “I’ve heard repeatedly how grateful they have been for this support so that they can continue providing services to the children and families who need us. I’m also happy to know that our staff felt so positive about Beech Brook even before the pandemic and the decision we made to continue full employment for everyone.

“I’ve said many times that the best people I know work at Beech Brook, and to me, this is just one more example of what an outstanding, mission-driven team we have,” he said.
