On September 25, 2025, Beech Brook proudly presented the Suzanne Brookhart Harrison Award for Exceptional Service to Children — the organization’s highest honor — to two remarkable individuals who have devoted significant portions of their lives to service:

Nicole Borowy-Salamon, 25 Years of Service

Muffy Kaesberg, A Lifelong Connection & Legacy of Leadership

This award, named in memory of longtime Beech Brook leader Suzanne Brookhart Harrison, recognizes extraordinary commitment to the well-being of children. It is the highest recognition Beech Brook bestows.

25 Years of Service

Nicole Borowy-Salamon has been a part of Beech Brook for 25 years, beginning her career in the School-Based Mental Health program in 2000. Over time, she discovered her passion for prevention and education, eventually leading Beech Brook’s award-winning Comprehensive Sex Education program. She also serves as the organization’s Client Rights Advocate, ensuring every child and family is treated with dignity and respect.

Her work has changed countless lives. From empowering parents to protect their children, to helping teens understand consent, to giving caregivers the courage to confront difficult truths, Nicole’s leadership has created ripple effects of healing and safety for thousands of children and families.

“Nicole’s 25 years at Beech Brook represent thousands of lives touched and futures redirected,” said Tom Royer, President & CEO of Beech Brook. “Her dedication and compassion will echo for generations.”

Muffy Kaesberg

A Lifelong Connection and Legacy of Leadership

Also honored with this year’s Suzanne Brookhart Harrison Award was Muffy Kaesberg, outgoing Beech Brook Board Chair. Muffy’s connection to Beech Brook spans nearly her entire life. Inspired by her mother, Bunny Loomis, a former staff member and Development Director, Muffy grew up with Beech Brook as part of her family story.

She has volunteered and supported the organization since high school, later serving on the Board beginning in 2018 and stepping into the role of Board Chair during a pivotal period. A financial planning professional, she also lent her expertise to manage Beech Brook’s endowment and pension plan. Now, in true family tradition, she will continue her service as the organization’s incoming Development Chair.

“Muffy has turned a family legacy into a lifelong mission,” said Tom Royer, President & CEO of Beech Brook. “She has given her expertise, her time, and her heart to Beech Brook, and because of her, countless children and families have found hope and stability.”
