For the past 29 years, Beech Brook’s Family Center has provided critical support and assistance to those in need. Beech Brook's "No-No Policy" (meaning they never say “no” when someone is in need) and holistic approach to support are changing lives in Cleveland's lowest-income community, one family at a time. Their work is a testament to the power of compassion, understanding, and the belief that, together, we can build a brighter future for all to help children and families thrive.

Remarkably, our efforts are paying off, as evidenced by an 80% satisfaction rate among program participants and a 70% completion rate. These statistics speak volumes about the effectiveness of the Family Center’s programs.

Our award-winning programs are changing lives, and the best reward is when families refer others to us for help.

Award-Winning Programs and Family Building:

One of Beech Brook's standout features is its award-winning programs, which are making a tangible difference in the community. Terri Davis, Senior Director of Prevention and Early Intervention, says, “The true reward lies in the families that refer others to the Family Center for assistance. It's a testament to the trust and impact that Beech Brook has built within the Central Neighborhood.”

Debra Brown, affectionately known as "Mama Brown" and the Manager of Supportive Parenting, encapsulates the dedication of the staff when she says, "They know we care. We genuinely want to do the best we can. We can't change the world overnight, but we can take little steps that move them along the right path."

Clients Drive the Bus:

Ron Robinson, Supervisor of the Police Assisted Referral program, describes the staff's role as "navigators." He emphasizes that clients drive the bus, and their team meets individuals where they are, whether physically or emotionally, to provide the help they need. It's an approach grounded in empathy and understanding, recognizing that each person's journey is unique.

Building Better Parents:

Bridgett Berry, Supervisor of the Nurturing Parenting/Supportive Visitation Program, dispels the notion that one situation dictates a person's ability to parent for the rest of their life. She highlights the importance of building parenting skills and offers support to help individuals become better parents. It's a message of hope and empowerment that resonates deeply with those who seek Beech Brook's assistance.

Healing and Family:

Darnell Carter, Lead Family Life Educator in the Parenting Programs/Father Group, speaks about the profound impact childhood traumas have on a person’s decision-making. He inspires participants to overcome their past and become the nurturing and enhancing parents their children need. He emphasizes that the Family Center becomes a new family for those who enter its doors, bonded by love for the preservation of life.

The Greater Good:

Darnell Carter eloquently states, "The purpose of parenting is not for the child. It is not for the parent. It is for society. Society benefits the most from parenting." Beech Brook's Family Center embodies this belief, working tirelessly to create a better future for individuals, families, and the entire Central Neighborhood.
