A Helping Hand for Children and Families

When children are struggling with emotional or behavioral problems, the whole family suffers. Beech Brook can help when the stress of family life becomes overwhelming.

Beech Brook offers a variety of counseling and support services to help children and their families build on their strengths as they work through difficult times.

Special Help to Meet Special Needs

A diverse staff of counselors and social workers provides a wide range of therapeutic services to meet the special needs of each family. Among those services are:

  • diagnostic assessment;
  • psychiatric consultation;
  • individual and group therapy;
  • family and multifamily therapy;
  • crisis intervention and safety planning;
  • therapy using play and creative expression;
  • case management and community support.

Referrals for Outpatient Services

Families seek help for many different reasons. Their children may be having behavior problems at school or at home. There may be a history of abuse and neglect or family conflicts. Foster families or biological families whose children are returning from an out-of-home stay or foster families may also find the special support they need during these difficult transitions.

Families may be referred to Beech Brook through other agencies with which they are involved, schools, juvenile courts or other Beech Brook programs. They may also seek services on their own by calling the Intake Department. The first step for each family is to talk with the intake specialist who will schedule an appointment to meet the family, assess their needs and make recommendations to a treatment team.

Beech Brook provides outpatient services at two sites in
Cleveland: on our campus at 3737 Lander Road and at the Beech Brook Weizer Building at 11801 Buckeye Road.

In Lorain County, outpatient services are available at  347 Midway Boulevard in Elyria.

Weekend and evening hours are available for those who are not able to come during regular office hours. Some private insurance or Medicaid is accepted; special payment plans can also be developed.
