Foster Parent On-Going Training
(Current Beech Brook Foster Parents Only)

On-Going Training Schedule for
January 2008 - December 2008

You must call Doris Dungy at (216) 831-2255, ext. 2303, to register for each of the training sessions you plan to attend. Please register 5 days prior to the training date to help us plan for sufficient food and training materials.

The following are training topics offered by Beech Brook:

5A) Parents and foster caregiver's as part of the child protection team

5B) The dynamics of child abuse and neglect and its effects on child development

5C) How foster caregivers should work with children and their families regarding placement, separation, and Attachment issues

5D) Behavior management and the non-use of physical restraint/de-escalation

5E) Foster caregivers working with children's families

5F) Caring for children who have been sexually abused

5G) Cultural competency (minimum of 3 hours)

5H) Substance abuse and dependency

5I) Symptoms of mental illness and learning disorders

5J) Developmentally appropriate activities for children

5K) Adolescence

5L) Independent living skills

5M) Educational advocacy

5N) Continuous maintenance of First Aid certification

5O) Continuous maintenance of Infant, Child, and Adult CPR certification
